Roland Garros, Tsitsipas contro Medvedev

Con tutto il rispetto per Berrettini e Djokovic, il quarto di finale maschile più interessante del Roland Garros 2021 è senza dubbio quello che metterà di fronte Stefanos Tsitsipas e Daniil Medvedev, nella sessione serale (diretta su Eurosport alle 21) che ci fa venire rabbia pensando a quanto grande tennis ci siamo persi nel corso della vita nel nome di tradizioni bolse, quando sarebbe bastato (nel tennis e in tutto il resto) rispettare lo spirito del gioco.

Veniamo subito al punto: il greco con Medvedev ha quasi sempre perso (6-1 il bilancio in favore di Medvedev, che ha anche vinto o l’unico scontro diretto sulla terra) e il russo numero 2 del mondo sta giocando il suo miglior tennis di sempre su questa superficie, ma nonostante queste due pesanti realtà consideriamo Tsitsipas netto favorito. La quota (1,52 quella di Betfair) non è strepitosa, in considerazione dei precedenti, ma sulla terra Tsitsipas ha molte più armi e soprattutto sta benissimo. Quanto a Medvedev, ad alto livello rarissimo mix di solidità (prima e seconda palla di servizio, il rovescio aggressivo) e imprevedibilità, nella serata giusta può ovviamente distruggere Tsitsipas, ma con entrambi al 100% stasera prendiamo il greco: quindi 100 euro a 1,52.

With all due respect to Berrettini and Djokovic, the most interesting men’s quarter-final of Roland Garros 2021 is undoubtedly the one that will face Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev, in the evening session (live on Eurosport at 9 pm) that makes us angry thinking about how much great tennis we have missed in the course of our lives in the name of foolish traditions, when it would have been enough (in tennis and in everything else) to respect the spirit of the game. Let’s get straight to the point: the Greek has almost always lost to Medvedev (6-1 in Medvedev’s favour, who has also won the only direct clash on clay) and the Russian world number 2 is playing his best tennis ever on this surface, but despite these two heavy realities we consider Tsitsipas a clear favourite. The odds (1.52 on Betfair) are not great considering the record, but on clay Tsitsipas has a lot more weapons and above all he is in great shape. As for Medvedev, at high level a rare mix of solidity (first and second service balls, aggressive backhand) and unpredictability, on the right night he can obviously destroy Tsitsipas, but with both at 100% tonight we take the Greek: so 100 euros at 1.52.
