Sinner-Fognini: preview, prediction and betting tips

11 Maggio 2022 di Stefano Olivari

The match between Jannik Sinner and Fabio Fognini, tonight at 7pm in the Rome Masters 1000, is a challenge between generations and between two players at different moments in their careers. Sinner after the change of coach, from Piatti to Vagnozzi, is in the middle of the ford: he is trying to add something to his game, especially on his serve and at the net, but the reality is that to beat the very strong ones he still lacks something. As for Fognini, his decline is dignified and he is beating everyone he can beat, such as the convalescent Thiem in the first round.

Alcaraz’s expected, but faster-than-expected, rise has destabilised all those who dreamed of picking up the spoils of Djokovic and Nadal (who are still alive, by the way), and Sinner is one of them: from potential Slam winner in a few months he has become a quarter-final player, without much fault other than being the same as before. On his side, he has a minimum level of tennis that he never drops below, especially against players like Fognini who make the match and like to shoot from the tee.

Despite all the cheering and esteem for Fognini, we believe that Sinner will win quite clearly, which is why we will bet 135 euros on Sinner winning at 1.38 (the logic is always to win an amount around 50 euros, in this case 51.3), in an evening that will in any case be memorable for Italian tennis.
