Shapovalov-Nadal, prediction and betting tips

This evening in the Masters 1000 in Rome, a great R16 match between Denis Shapovalov and Rafa Nadal, with the prediction obligatory in favour of the Spaniard, who in the first round strolled against Isner, while the Canadian suffered against both Sonego and Basilashvili. For Nadal, therefore, a stage on his way to the semifinals with Djokovic, while on the other side of the scoreboard there could be a Tsitsipas-Zverev.

That’s the normal prediction, but you already know that we like to play value odds and Nadal’s 1.15 certainly isn’t. Because Shapovalov, as left-handed as he is, can lose to Nadal, but he certainly does not suffer on any of the diagonals, as demonstrated by the quarter-final at the last Australian Open, literally thrown away by Shapovalov, and even more so by last year’s match at the Foro Italico won by Nadal 7-6 in the third.

In short, it is a match that Nadal will win, but in our opinion without strolling, because Shapovalov after the Delgado cure (moreover already exonerated, after only a few months together) is in a transition phase and this is the typical match that he could play as an ‘old’ Shapovalov, full-armed. Our bet will therefore be 10 euros on Shapovalov at 6.80, to win 58 or lose 10.

Questa sera nel Masters 1000 di Roma grande ottavo di finale fra Denis Shapovalov e Rafa Nadal, con il pronostico obbligato a favore dello spagnolo, che nel primo turno ha passeggiato contro Isner, mentre il canadese è stato molto falloso sia con Sonego sia con Basilashvili. Per Nadal quindi una tappa del suo percorso verso la semifinale con Djokovic, mentre dall’altra parte del tabellone ci potrebbe essere uno Tsitsipas-Zverev.

Questo il discorso da compitino, ma sapete già che più del dignitoso compitino ci piace giocare quote di valore e l’1,15 di Nadal certo non lo è. Perché Shapovalov, mancino come lui, da Nadal può perdere ma certo non soffre su nessuna delle diagonali, come dimostrato dal quarto di finale dell’ultimo Australian Open, letteralmente buttato via da Shapovalov, e ancor di più dalla sfida dell’anno scorso al Foro Italico vinta da Nadal 7-6 al terzo.

Insomma, è una partita che Nadal vincerà, ma secondo noi senza passeggiare perché Shapovalov dopo la cura Delgado (peraltro già esonerato, dopo pochi mesi insieme) è in una fase di transizione e questa è la tipica partita che potrebbe giocare da ‘vecchio’ Shapovalov, a tutto braccio. La nostra scommessa sarà quindi 10 euro su Shapovalov a 6,80, per vincerne 58 o perderne 10.
