La nuova Coppa Davis e il vecchio Nadal

Prima di parlare delle nostre scommesse per il primo turno degli Australian Open una considerazione sulla Coppa Davis versione Piqué che nonostante il successo di pubblico ed il gradimento dei giocatori potrebbe essere già al capolinea. In pratica la ITF ha comunicato la rottura della partnership con la Kosmos, che quindi avrà in mano l’edizione 2023 della Davis prima che le strade si separino, con 20 anni (!) di anticipo sul previsto. Evidenti le cause del divorzio: il ‘Mondiale’ di tennis pensato all’inizio, con tutte le squadre per due o più settimane raggruppate nello stesso posto, è impossibile per motivi di calendario, e la formula ibrida attuale, con turni preliminari e gironi, non accontentava nessuno. Detto questo, chiunque la organizzi è da escludersi il ritorno alla vecchia Davis, tanto rimpianta soprattutto da chi non la guardava. Anche perché il calendario, con i Masters 1000 che si stanno allargando verso le due settimane, dice che inventarsi 4 settimane, in 4 periodi dell’anno diversi, sperando che i migliori dicano sempre sì, è nel tennis di oggi soltanto un sogno. Basti pensare a quante convocazioni abbiano rinunciato (spesso in maniera preventiva) Federer, Nadal e addirittura anche il più patriota Djokovic.

Ma veniamo al primo turno degli Australian Open, con qualche nostro consiglio per scommettere. Nella notte fra domenica e lunedì, alla una, cominciamo con il credere ad una Coco Gauff in missione, che non dovrebbe trovare un grande ostacolo in Katerina Siniakova anche se la ceca l’ha di recente battuta nella Billie Jean Cup. 100 euro sulla Gauff a 1,20.

Verso le 2.30 troviamo valore nelle quote del match fra Tallon Griekspoor e Pavel Kotov: il discontinuo olandese viene dal successo di Pune, è in formissima, ed in condizioni normali ha più tennis del russo (si può dire russo?). Quindi 100 euro su Griekspoor a 1,36 (William Hill).

Non c’è dubbio che il match della prima giornata sia quello, in zona 4.30, fra Rafa Nadal e Jack Draper, il vecchio campione dato sempre sull’orlo del ritiro contro l’emergente britannico. Tecnicamente l’interesse è per come servirà Nadal, che non ha risolto il famoso problema agli addominali, non grave ma certo condizionante. Draper è in buona forma e grande ascesa, ha la potenza per fare male e creare la sorpresa. Nadal rimane secondo noi favorito, ma ad una quota sbagliata: rischiamo quindi 50 euro su Draper a 3,10 (Betfair.it).

Lunedì mattina alle 6.30 ci risveglieremo con la sfida fra Elena Rybakina e la caldissima Elisabetta Cocciaretto, fresca di finale a Hobart. La russa fintamente kazaka dopo il trionfo a Wimbledon ha avuto alti e bassi, ma sul cemento rimane una che ha più armi e più cilindrata fisica dell’italiana. 100 euro sulla Rybakina a 1,33 (Bet365.it)

Before we talk about our bets for the first round of the Australian Open, a remark on the Davis Cup Piqué version, which despite its success with the public and the players’ appreciation may already be at the end of the line. Also because the calendar, with the Masters 1000 being extended to two weeks, says that inventing four weeks, at four different times of the year, hoping that the best will always say yes, is in today’s tennis only a dream. Just think of how many convocations Federer, Nadal and even the more patriotic Djokovic have given up (often preemptively).

But let us come to the first round of the Australian Open, with some of our betting tips. On the night between Sunday and Monday, at one o’clock (italian time), we start by believing in a Coco Gauff on a mission, who should not find a big obstacle in Katerina Siniakova even though the Czech recently beat her in the Billie Jean Cup. 100 euros on Gauff at 1.20.

At around 2.30 we find value in the odds on the match between Tallon Griekspoor and Pavel Kotov: the discontinuous Dutchman comes from his success in Pune, is on form, and in normal conditions has more tennis than the Russian (can you say Russian?). So 100 euros on Griekspoor at 1.36 (William Hill).

There is no doubt that the match of the first day is the one, in the 4.30 zone, between Rafa Nadal and Jack Draper, the old champion always given on the brink of retirement against the emerging Briton. Technically, the interest is in how Nadal, who has not resolved the notorious abdominal problem, not serious but certainly conditioning, will serve. Draper is in good form and great ascent, he has the power to hurt and create the surprise. Nadal remains favourite in our opinion, but at the wrong odds: we therefore risk 50 euros on Draper at 3.10 (Betfair.it).

Monday morning at 6.30 a.m. we will wake up with the challenge between Elena Rybakina and the very hot Elisabetta Cocciaretto, fresh from the final in Hobart. The Kazakh-Russian after her triumph at Wimbledon has had ups and downs, but on cement she remains one who has more weapons and more physical displacement than the Italian. 100 euros on Rybakina at 1.33 (Bet365.it)
